Europe is a continent that is rich in history, culture, and beauty. It's no wonder that so many people dream of taking a trip there and exploring all it offers. I have here our itinerary in Europe. I've also included some helpful travel tips to make your trip easier. Let’s go!

Travel Tips
  • For flights, Skyscanner is excellent for comparing the best airline deals.
  • For accommodations, our family trusts Booking.com for reasonable prices.

Before your trip to Europe, here are some things to consider when planning your itinerary:

  • Decide which countries you want to visit: Europe has many different countries, each with its unique culture and attractions. Consider what you want to see and do, and then choose the countries that best fit your interests.
  • Plan your itinerary: Once you know which countries you want to visit, it's time to plan your itinerary. Decide how long you want to spend in each place, and make sure to include time for travel between destinations.
  • Consider transportation: Europe has a great transportation system, with trains, buses, and planes connecting many destinations. Research the best way to get around the countries you're visiting, and book your tickets in advance to save money.
  • Budget wisely: Europe can be an expensive destination, so it's important to budget wisely. Consider staying in hostels or vacation rentals instead of hotels, and look for deals on attractions and activities.

Friday, October 11: LA to Paris

Flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) France
Airline: Norwegian Air
Promo price: 350 USD (one-way, per person)
Duration: 11 hours
Departing @ 10:15 pm PST (GMT -8)
Arriving the next day @ 5:45 pm GMT+1

Saturday, October 12: Arrived in Paris
  • Arrived in Paris, Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport, France, Terminal 2E/F. We planned to take the local public transportation to our hotel.

How to take the train: From Charles de Gaulle Airport to Gare du Nord Train Station (City Centre of Paris)

Exchange our USD to EUR (“Euro notes” or "euros") from a money changer inside the airport, just enough for the train and BUS tickets.  Exchange rates at the airport are terrible, so we saved our main pocket money for later.  We asked for coins since ticket machines only accept coins as per our research, but they also accept credit cards now.

Take the free train ride inside the airport to Terminal 3 for the Metro to the City Centre.

Look for “Billetse Paris” inside the Metro Station to purchase Paris week passes.  Week passes start on a Monday and end on Sunday.  Since we arrived on a Saturday, there was only 1 day left on the week pass.  Instead, we bought a day pass on the ticket machine, unsure if the single-ride pass would suffice.  On the ticket machine screen, press “Acheter des tickets, coupons,” press the green button, then select English.

Insert the train ticket at the entryway and look for signs to TRAIN RER B.

Our exit: Gare du Nord Train Station
Estimated travel time: 25 minutes

From Gare du Nord Train Station to Hotel Ibis

The station connects to the mall.  Take the escalator down and buy BUS tickets at a nearby ticket machine.  Take BUS 302 Tramway toward Cail Demarquay, exiting after 6 stops at Point Marcadet.

Walk towards Rue Ordener, turn left, walk past Rue Emile Duploye, and wait for BUS 60 to Porte de Montmartre (9 stops).

Walk towards Rue Charles Schmidt, turn left, then make another left on Rue du Dr. Babinski.  You will pass a store named Monoprix and right beside it is Hotel Ibis.

Bus and Car Tips When Traveling Around Amalfi Coast
From Sorrento south to Positano and Amalfi, sit on the right side of the vehicle or BUS to see the beautiful Mediterranean Sea and the coastal houses. When travelling north, sit on the left side.

Amalfi Coast Bus Ride Service
In Amalfi Coast City Centre, some buses go to different towns.  Ask your hotel about bus times.

Always make sure to buy your tickets at your hotel ahead of time or at the bus station.  It’s best to buy them the day before so you can patiently wait for the bus instead of rushing back to its pickup site.

Buy your bus tickets in advance from bars or small shops. These bus tickets are sold at "tabaccherie" (cigarette shops), newspaper stands, bars, and cafés.

Reminders: Tickets can't be purchased onboard the bus. There are no ticket kiosks at the bus stops. Bus tickets must be stamped on board or torn by the driver.

Bus fare: 1.30 euros
