Summer is Here: Get Ready for the Beach!
1. Coral Reef Safe Sunblock
This type of sunscreen is essential for protecting your skin from harmful UV rays while also protecting marine life and coral reefs. By using reef-safe sunscreen, you can help keep our oceans and beaches clean. Check out: Reef Repair Sunscreen.
I don't even consider bringing sunscreen with me during college. Now I'm paying the price for ignoring it. Frequent exposure to the sun can cause premature wrinkles and ageing. Now that I believe in the essence of its existence I have obliged myself to never leave the house without a sun protection lotion, especially when I'm going for water sports activities.
2. Slippers/ Flip-flops
Wear slippers. For goodness sake be kind to your sneakers or sandals and just give them a break. Exposing them to sand and water is not advisable for the material they're made of. Besides you're on the beach loosen up those tired feet of yours and give them some fresh air.
However, a comfortable pair of sandals is perfect for walking on the beach or around town. It protects your feet from hot sand or pavement, while also providing comfort and support.
Wearing a hat adds a stylish touch to your beach look and protects your face and head from the sun's harmful rays.
Aside from putting on sun protection lotion, it's also a good idea to bring a hat with you. It's not only great for added protection from the sun but also a good accessory to complete your summer look. It keeps you looking cool and avoids having a bad hair day.
Protecting your eyes from the sun's UV rays is vital for keeping your eyes healthy and preventing eye damage.
This is something I can't leave without when I'm heading to the beach. It's a must for everyone, it does not only protect you from the stinging rays of the sun but totally enhances the summer feeling. It adds confidence for the ladies and is a great safety weapon for guys to watch bikini bottoms.
5. Beach Towel/Sarong / Big Scarf
A large, absorbent towel is essential for drying off after a swim or lounging on the sand. It also provides a comfortable spot to sit or lie down on the beach.
I also love a big scarf/sarong as it's an essential piece of cloth that saves you from any wardrobe malfunction, and keeps you dry and comfortable. It also serves as a mat when you want to lie down for your sunbathing. It also keeps your hair in place and wearing it as a dress for girls will make you look like a summer goddess.
6. Waterproof Bag / Ziplock Bag
Most beachgoers don't care about this yet it comes in handy when you're going on a water sports activity. It keeps your things safe from getting wet and most especially avoids putting moisture on your cameras.
7. Camera
Make sure to have a camera with you when going to the beach, no matter where you shoot the images everything will look perfect. Having the beach as the background won't get your wong
Even if my camera and phone are not waterproof I would still bring them along with me on the beach. I would place mine in a waterproof phone cover and my camera inside my waterproof bag.
8. Beach Song Playlist
Make a playlist of your favorite beach songs I like to include reggae songs in my list, add in some Colbie Callait and Jason Mraz songs, and a tinge of classic music too like Beatle's popular song "Here Comes the Sun" and The Beach Boys "Wouldn't be nice." I like my playlist to sound fun and relaxing especially in the morning.
In the afternoon I might throw in some house music with some watermelon shake by my side and at night maybe some old RnB or the latest upbeat dance music. I like old, happy, and familiar songs when I'm on the beach sometimes, it brings back fun memories in my mind.
Whatever songs you have in mind save it. Keep your playlist interesting so it will spice up your summer experience.
9. Mini Speaker
Now that you have a playlist, bring along a mini speaker. It would totally enhance the music experience.
10. Goggles and Snorkel
This item is optional but if you're mindful of personal hygiene then bring along your own snorkel. Sometimes in Island Hopping Tours, they provide everything for snorkeling activities. However, having a pair of fitted goggles and your own snorkel is not a bad idea.
More Bonus Tips...
11. Swimsuit that suits you
Never underestimate the power of wearing the right kind of swimsuit. You don't have to wear a bikini to look sexy, sometimes a Tankini or beach short that complements your skin will look more marvelous than showing all of you are.
A comfortable swimsuit is a must-have for any beach or pool day. It helps you feel confident and ready to swim and soak up the sun.
Bonus tip: Let me share a secret with you – for a summer goddess look, try pairing it up with Tinted Lip Balm with SPF 15.
12. Water Bottle
Staying hydrated is essential for your health and well-being, especially on hot summer days. A reusable water bottle is a convenient and eco-friendly way to stay hydrated throughout the day. Using a Reusable Bottle is a great idea because it helps reduce waste and pollution caused by single-use plastic bottles. Additionally, it can save you money in the long run as you won't need to keep buying disposable bottles. Reusable bottles are also often made of durable materials that can last for years with proper care.
My Reusable Bottle has been my trusty companion for a while now. It features a lovely ombre color scheme and a convenient handle for easy transport, helping me stay on top of my daily water intake.
13. Insect Repellent
This is something you don't need but then you stay all day at the beach till midnight and realize you wish you had one when you needed it most.
Mosquitoes and other bugs can be a nuisance during outdoor activities. Using a good quality insect repellent can help keep these pesky bugs away.
14. A Good Book
15. Snacks
Staying energized throughout the day is important for enjoying your summer activities. Healthy snacks like fruits, nuts or granola bars are a great way to keep your energy levels up.
