Getting your birth certificate from the Philippines can be quite complex. To simplify the process, I have outlined a step-by-step guide on how to request it online through PSA and arrange for a DHL delivery service. I was surprised by how challenging it was to request a Philippines Birth Certificate from overseas, but I successfully managed to do it online and received my PSA birth certificate while being abroad. Let’s go!

Travel Tips
- For flights, Skyscanner is excellent for comparing the best airline deals.
- For accommodations, our family trusts Booking.com for reasonable prices.
- Organize your trips easily with a Travel Planner.

1. Go to PSA Website
- Select [Birth Certificate]
- if you currently do not reside in the Philippines, I would not advise creating an account right away as it may interfere with how things appear compared to PSA's instructions.
- as a sidenote, I created an account after completing the steps and noticed it would immediately redirect me to mydhl.express.dhl/us instead of /ph
3. It's OK to click [Accept]
From PSA Serbilis' instructions, when you get to the page with the tiny screenshots of what to do, it's OK to click [Accept] because downloadable PDF instructions will reappear on the next page or two. Don't strain your eyes like I did.
With that in mind, keep calm and carry on with the following tips:
4. Keep in mind that DHL will ask for PSA Serbilis' address
- It is NOT listed in the first set of instruction pages but FURTHER DOWN in their screenshots
- Also, do not use the Eton Centris address from their homepage; they specifically want the "Level 9 One Cyberpod Centris." Not sure if it matters but I don't think it's worth finding out and experiencing any possible confusion/delays
5. Continue along PSA Serbilis' site until you get your reference number, then go to myDHL's site
- This will save you one less window-hopping (or more if you were like me following everything from the first tiny PDF instruction page)
6. Do not follow DHL's auto-populate for PSA's address
- If you do, make sure to review the address information because it WILL reset when going to the next page
- Instead, better to scroll down from DHL's homepage to the second [Create a Shipment] option which will directly load the same next page without the wrong auto-corrections
7. The shipment date should be at least 4 business days after the PSA Serbilis request paid
- However, DHL will not allow you to select beyond 5 days in advance, EVEN IF those days include the weekend (which are generally NOT considered business days)
- The PDF says to select the "Express Worldwide" option but this did not appear during my experience as of Feb 26, 2024
8. Don't forget the promo code: MABUHAY30
- 30% discount really does work
9. VERY IMPORTANT INFO TO COPY
- note Piece Number
- note Pickup Confirmation Number
- note Waybill Number (found in the next bullet below)
- select checkboxes: Label (Waybill) and Receipt, then...
- click "Print Selected Documents" and "Save as PDF"
10. Copy-paste the necessary numbers back to PSA Serbilis' site
Just for reference, I paid:
- about 40 USD for DHL's courier pickup and international delivery service
- another 40 USD for PSA's form request and processing (I requested 2 copies because you never know if they'll ask/keep one of your originals)
It took me about an hour, particularly because the address portion resetting kept me from proceeding until I scrolled further into the instructions' screenshots. Hope this saved you some time, stress, and white hair! ^__^
