Travel Tips
  • For flights, Skyscanner is excellent for comparing the best airline deals.
  • For accommodations, our family trusts Booking.com for reasonable prices.

Most of these organizational tools can be found at a dollar store. You don't need to invest in expensive options; as long as they work, you're good to go. Here are ten travel hacks that have significantly improved my journeys.

1. Use a Pill Organizer for your Jewelry

This is my top hack, and I’m sharing it right away. In addition to holding my vitamins and supplements, I also use it to store my earrings. They are safely tucked away from potential harm, ensuring my precious pearls remain secure.

2. Use Straws to prevent your Necklaces from tangling

Simply slide one end of the necklace into a straw, or you can opt for eco-friendly silicone straws. After inserting the necklace, close the straw, and you’ll have a tangle-free accessory.

3. Use Mesh Laundry Bags as Organizers

If you don’t want to spend money on pricey travel cubes, grab some mesh laundry bags from Daiso or any dollar store for an affordable way to keep your items organized. A Jumbo Mesh Laundry Bag works well for bulkier clothing.

4. Use a Vacuum Bag for Bulky jackets

Vacuum bags are excellent for winter jackets. When I traveled to Canada, I didn't even use a vacuum; I simply sat on the bag, rolled it up, and squeezed out the air – and it worked wonders.

5. Use Cosmetic Cases to store Laundry sheets

We like Earth Breeze Laundry Detergent Sheets because they're easy to pack for travel. If you're traveling for more than a week, doing laundry can be a great option. We usually bring enough clothes for a week and then wash them during our trip.

6. Use Reusable Storage Bags for Snacks

This eco-friendly reusable bag solution allows you to bring back snacks from your destination. Just ensure the snacks comply with immigration regulations, avoiding fresh fruits and liquids.

7. Use Shower Caps for Shoes

Cover your shoe soles and keep your belongings clean. Always cover your shoes before placing them in your bag. Alternatively, a mesh laundry bag with smaller holes can provide extra protection. You might also consider adding fabric softener sheets or charcoal inserts to prevent unpleasant odors.

8. Use Dressing Containers for Toiletries

This is an affordable alternative to travel containers, though be cautious as they may spill. Test them at home first. For carry-on luggage, ensure all containers hold no more than 100 milliliters or 3.4 ounces of liquid, and fit them inside a quart-size ziplock bag. Remember, even partially filled containers over 200 ml cannot travel in your carry-on.

9. Use a Clear Binder Pouch for Documents

Make sure to keep your travel printouts organized. This is especially useful when traveling to countries that require visas, ensuring you have all necessary documents in one place. Also, having a Travel Planner will help you pack effectively and keep things organized.

10. Use a Cosmetic Bag to organize your Makeup essentials

This helps keep your makeup intact and prevents items from going missing. Aim to bring only the essentials; I have a list of minimalist makeup travel must-haves for every woman. Read more: Minimalist Travel Make-up Essentials
